SMARTRISK has a long and successful history of presenting a live show for young people age 12-19 that discusses injury and risk in a frank but positive way. The original show, SMARTRISK Heroes, began in 1992 and criss-crossed Canada and travelled to Europe and the US.
Formerly known as SMARTRISK Heroes, SMARTRISK No Regrets Live continues the tradition of a national live high school presentation. In the fall 2009, the Heroes show began a redevelopment process to help SMARTRISK reach thousands more young Canadians each year, at a reduced cost to communities and their schools, and with greater flexibility in show dates. The new title, SMARTRISK No Regrets Live, was chosen to reflect linkages to our peer leadership program, SMARTRISK No Regrets. The method of delivery, which used to consist of a truck and trailer touring the country, has been modified to operate using presenters located across the country. Presenters now will travel to the venue on their own and rely on the school or venue to provide the necessary audio-visual equipment.
SMARTRISK No Regrets Live builds upon the success of the highly evaluated SMARTRISK Heroes, which has had proven positive effect on its audience of over 1 million young people since its inception. These findings are available for download:
