About SMARTRISK No Regrets
Piloted in 2003, SMARTRISK No Regrets is a high school based peer leadership program that trains staff advisers and student leaders to raise awareness and implement injury prevention activities and events in their schools. These activities and events are designed to promote at least one of the SMARTRISK five key messages (Buckle Up, Look First, Wear the Gear, Get Trained, and Drive Sober) and influence the risk-taking behaviour of students related to activities such as: driving, biking, skateboarding, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and partying. In fact, a recent evaluation of the program found that students reported 17% fewer injuries requiring medical care following a single year’s exposure to the program’s messages.
